This is a menu for a listening bar in Oceanside, California. It's a graphic design project that I did as a volunteer. My inspiration came from sound waves and song patterns on PioneerDJ screens. I decided to keep the design clean and minimalist with a separation line in the middle that was following the U in the logo. I aimed at balance among the left and right side of the design while adding versatility in the length of the sentences. The dimensions of the menu are 4.5x8 inches, double-sided, and printed on waterproof paper.

At the origin, the menu was as below. 

It was an 8.5 x 11.5 format menu, on regular printing paper. Although it was serving the purpose of giving the customer the list of food and beverages, I thought that an elegant lounge bar like Sound By The Sea is, needed a menu refining.

The first versions of the refined menu had a similar layout, but on a smaller size paper

Inspired by the music sound patterns and by a dear friend, I then started to play with a centered spine layout with text expanding towards the edges of the paper

The next iterations were layout refining, with a more consistent and easily readable text

I ultimately played with the hierarchy of the fonts, and since I had reached cleanliness in the text layout, I was then able to shrink the paper to a 4.5 x 8.5 size.  

The slogan "eclectic vibes for music lovers" was slightly modified to play with the two versions of the fonts, the filled one and the outlined one. The text is divided into two columns, with the first half of the slogan on the left and the second half on the right. The versions of the fonts are interchanged, creating a visual and semantic playfulness. The slogan can be read as "eclectic vibes for music lovers" or as "eclectic lovers + vibes for music." The X shape formed by the two columns represents the random but beautiful interaction of people who listen to music at Sound by The Sea.
